The Village of North Hampton has enacted a 1.0% (.01) municipal income tax on the taxable income earned by individuals 18 years of age and older who live or work in the Village of North Hampton, and on the net profits of businesses operating within the Village. The tax is effective July 1, 2025, and 0% (0) tax credit is allowed for taxes paid to other municipalities.
Taxable income includes items such as wages, salaries, tips, commissions, rental income, net profits from a business or profession, and distributions from partnerships. Income that is not taxable includes Social Security payments, pensions, interest, dividends, military pay, unemployment compensation, spousal support and child support.
The Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA) will collect the municipal income tax on behalf of the Village. The Village chose RITA to collect its income tax because of its ability to offer taxpayers online tools and services, and its ability to provide the Village with efficient and effective tax collection solutions that result in increased tax collections and cost savings.
